Reishi
Reishi, also known as lingzhi, has been prized in Asia for over 2,000 years. Traditionally associated with strength, calm and balance, the mushroom is one of the most researched functional mushrooms today. It is the mushroom's content of beta-glucans and triterpenes in particular that has piqued the interest of researchers.
Reishi can contribute to:
- Natural immunological function

Description
A mushroom with long traditions
Reishi has been considered a rare and “secret” mushroom used in Eastern medicine for centuries. In China, the mushroom was originally only available to emperors, where it was considered an elixir of life. The mushroom contains, among other things, beta-glucans and triterpenes. The beta-glucans interact with cells in the immune system, while the triterpenes contribute, among other things, to the mushroom’s characteristic bitter taste. Reishi, like chaga, is often referred to as an adaptogen – a term used for plants that support the body’s ability to adapt to stress and maintain balance.
The Reishi raw material in SHIFT™ Reishi is duo-extracted to extract a broader spectrum of the mushroom's compounds, including both water-soluble beta-glucans and triterpenes that are poorly water-soluble.

Did you know that?
- Reishi has been nicknamed the “mushroom of immortality.” In Chinese tradition, the mushroom was highly valued and associated with long life and good health.
- It is one of the few mushrooms that contains ganoderic acids. These triterpenes help give the mushroom its distinct, bitter taste. They are also among the compounds that have received a lot of attention in research on the mushroom.
- The way reishi is extracted affects which substances are included. Hot water is used to extract water-soluble compounds like beta-glucans, while alcohol can extract more triterpenes. That's why SHIFT™ Reishi uses duo extraction.
