Vegetable omega-3 from algae

SHIFT Omega-3 is a 100% vegetable fatty acid supplement with oil from the microalgae Schizochytrium . Each capsule provides a full 600 mg of omega-3: 400 mg DHA, 150 mg EPA and 50 mg DPA. Microalgae are the original source of the marine fatty acids found further up the food chain. Therefore, we can obtain EPA and DHA directly from algae, without using fish.

EPA and DHA contribute to the normal function of the heart, while DHA contributes to the maintenance of normal brain function and normal vision. The beneficial effects are achieved with a daily intake of 250 mg EPA and DHA for the heart and 250 mg DHA for the brain and vision.

The algae are grown by fermentation in large, closed tanks indoors, rather than in the sea or open pools. This gives the algae stable growing conditions and less exposure to environmental pollution. The result is a vegetable algae oil with a naturally high omega-3 content and a mild taste.

The oil is produced in Italy.

• EPA, DHA and DPA are long-chain fatty acids. ALA, on the other hand, is mainly found in foods such as flaxseeds, chia seeds and walnuts.
• The body can convert ALA to EPA and then to DHA, but only to a limited extent. Algal oil therefore provides you with EPA and DHA directly.
• DHA is a structural fatty acid that is found in particularly high concentrations in the brain and retina.
