Description
SHIFT™ Omega-3 is a natural and 100% vegetable omega-3 supplement based on oil from the microalgae Schizochytrium . Each capsule provides a full 600 mg of omega-3, divided into 400 mg DHA, 150 mg EPA and 50 mg DPA.
EPA and DHA contribute to the normal function of the heart, while DHA contributes to the maintenance of normal brain function and normal vision.*
Algal oil is a sustainable source of omega-3. Microalgae are the original source of marine omega-3 fatty acids found further up the food chain, making it possible to produce EPA and DHA without the use of fish.
The algae in SHIFT™ Omega-3 are grown by fermentation in large, closed tanks indoors – not in the sea or in open pools. The closed and controlled production environment provides stable growing conditions and reduces exposure to pollution from the sea and the external environment.
The result is a pure, vegetable algae oil with a naturally high content of omega-3 and a mild taste.
The oil is produced in Italy.
*The beneficial effect for the heart is achieved with a daily intake of 250 mg of EPA and DHA. The beneficial effects for the brain and vision are achieved with a daily intake of 250 mg of DHA.

Did you know that?
- EPA, DHA, and DPA are long-chain omega-3 fatty acids. They differ from ALA, which is the omega-3 fatty acid found mainly in plant foods such as flaxseed, chia seeds, and walnuts.
- The body can convert ALA to EPA and then to DHA, but the conversion is limited. Algal oil provides EPA and DHA directly, without the body having to convert them from ALA first.
- DHA is an important structural fatty acid and is found in particularly high concentrations in the brain and retina.
- DPA is a long-chain omega-3 fatty acid that is found between EPA and DHA in the body's metabolism of omega-3, but is far less well known than the other two.

Sustainability and environment
Microalgae are the original source of the marine omega-3 fatty acids EPA, DHA and DPA. In the ocean, these fatty acids are passed through the food chain – from microalgae to fish and on to other marine animals.
By extracting omega-3 directly from microalgae, EPA, DHA and DPA can be produced without using fish or other marine animals as raw materials. This reduces the need for marine resources and makes algal oil a good alternative for those who want a more sustainable source of omega-3.
SHIFT™ Omega-3 thus combines a high content of marine omega-3 fatty acids with a 100% vegetable raw material – completely free of fish.
